My teaching experience includes courses in Applied Linguistics, as well as rhetoric and composition courses: sociolinguistics, academic writing, first-year writing, topic-based courses, argumentative writing, composition for multilingual writers, writing for first-generation low-income college students, digital rhetoric, introduction to rhetorical theory and practice, and professional writing. In my classes, students learn to produce and analyze different types of artifacts ranging from scholarly articles to sound and image composition, multimedia artifacts, and other digitally-born texts.

I like to listen to my students' stories. This is how I learn about what and where they write, how they engage with others, and what their struggles are. Any ordinary day often turns out to be an extraordinary experience. My students have rich encounters face-to-face and online via smartphones, iPads, computers, and other wearable technologies. My teaching philosophy reflects my belief that complexity in writing and other forms of composing is fascinating, challenging, and worth pursuing.
